The New Product Introduction Material Planner role supports tactical activities in a Manufacturing R&D environment. In this role you plan for various types of manufacturing materials and provide high level of Customer Service for internal customers. Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure timely delivery and communicate with internal customers including tracking and scheduling of deliveries to various remote locations.
Plan material during the development stage of a new product prior to release of full documentation.
Work hand in hand with engineering team analyzing long lead material to create a manufacturing build plan against inventory and supply chain data.
Obtain quotes from suppliers & place purchase orders for pc board assemblies and/or components to support a contract manufacturer’s build.
Work closely with production manufacturing to ensure a smooth handoff after validation and pilot builds have been completed.
Manage delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive ahead of requirement date.
Help provide forecasts and other relevant information to suppliers as required in order to support future production runs.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure demand for materials is met.
Review and manage excess inventory.
Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedule.
Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that impact production.
3-5 years of experience in Material Planning in a high-tech electronics environment.
Basic understanding of electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies
Ability to think outside of the box in a dynamic environment.
General end-to-end knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing, and warehouse operations.
Advanced spreadsheet / Excel skills.
Self-motivated with attention to detail and desire to improve existing processes and work in an autonomous environment.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in cross functional and peer group settings.
Creative problem-solving skills, and the capability to get things done.
