Use Case: Search & Rescue • Vislink

Overview & Mission Challenge

Following earthquakes, hurricanes, floods or missing-person incidents in remote terrain, rescue teams must quickly assess damage, locate survivors and understand hazards before committing personnel on the ground. Aerial assets can sweep large areas rapidly, but the value of that perspective depends on delivering live, reliable visual intelligence directly into the hands of those coordinating the rescue.

Operational Challenge

Ground movement may be restricted by collapsed structures, blocked roads, unstable terrain or ongoing weather risks. Traditional reconnaissance methods often deliver imagery only after delay, leaving crews with outdated or incomplete information. Without continuous real-time downlink from airborne platforms, commanders cannot accurately map hazard zones, confirm safe access routes or identify survivor locations, slowing operations and increasing risks for both victims and responders.

Leverage real‑time video from airborne units to assess and access impacted areas

Vislink Solution

Vislink AVDS enables helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to become real-time information hubs during disaster response. Airborne units equipped with AeroLink can transmit secure, low-latency HD/UHD video that gives command teams immediate insight into collapsed structures, flood zones, fire lines or stranded individuals. In remote regions or post-disaster environments where terrestrial networks are damaged or unavailable, Aero5 extends capability through bonded 5G and LEO satellite links, ensuring continuous visibility over wide operational areas.

To maintain a stable flow of intelligence into the rescue command structure, CIRAS-X6 provides high-gain, multi-channel RF reception suited to mobile command vehicles, field operation bases or emergency coordination centres. The Quantum receiver supports multi-mode imagery, enabling teams to combine airborne video with mapping layers, thermal imagery or ground-sensor data to build an accurate picture of changing conditions.

For coordination across multiple agencies, LinkMatrix centralises the routing and sharing of live feeds, enabling emergency services, disaster agencies and specialist teams to work from the same real-time view. Mobil Commander brings that airborne intelligence directly to field crews, giving rescue teams on foot or in vehicles a live understanding of routes, hazards and survivor locations as they move. This end-to-end chain ensures decisions are based on current, shared information at every level of the response.

Mission Impact / Outcome

With real-time airborne video, search-and-rescue teams can rapidly identify priority access paths, confirm survivor locations, avoid unstable areas, coordinate multi-agency teams and deploy the right resources precisely where they’re needed. Faster situational awareness reduces risk to responders, shortens response cycles and increases the likelihood of successful rescues across complex or hazardous environments.
