Vislink Provided Onboard, RF Camera and Encoder/Decoder Wireless Technology for Use in the First-Ever Live Broadcast from Inside the Arctic Circle
Mt. Olive, NJ — December 6, 2022 — Vislink is pleased to congratulate its technology partners NEP UK and BT Sport for their involvement in receiving a recent Broadcast Tech Innovation Award. The award, which was announced Nov. 29 in London in the category Best Use of Remote Production, was for their involvement in the Extreme E and Aurora Media Worldwide broadcast of the Arctic X Prix offroad electric racing event held in Greenland. This was the first and only motorsport championship to ever take place in Greenland, and the first-ever live broadcast from inside the arctic circle.
Vislink provided all the onboard, RF camera and encoder/decoder technology used as part of the remote production carried out at the NEP facility in central London. Vislink technology was also featured in another Broadcast Tech Innovation award given at the same ceremony, for which Vislink technology partner BT Media and Broadcast was named a named a winner in the category Best Innovation Project. This was for their deployment of a 5G private network at scale during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Extreme E and host broadcast agency Aurora were selected for honors in the Best Use of Remote Production category together with ITV, Sky Sports and BT Sport. Aurora captured the racing through a cutting-edge mix of track, on-board and live drone cameras. Extreme E is a radical new concept of offroad electric racing that takes place in the most remote corners of the planet impacted by climate change. Extreme E’s goal is to marrying the latest technology with sustainability and building solutions to meet the rigors of the world’s harshest conditions.
