Anaheim Police Department Utilizes IP Video to Keep Officers Informed

In 2010, the City of Anaheim issued a request for proposal (RFP) for a microwave downlink system to provide mission-critical imagery from police department aircraft cameras to officers and commanders on the ground. The City awarded the project to Vislink, following an exhaustive evaluation of the submitted proposals which considered numerous factors, including, but not limited to, specific performance specifications, mission compatibility, weight, pricing, and warranty and service terms.

The Vislink equipment employed by the Anaheim Police Department includes a diversity receive system, and a Vislink Media Server (VMS) installed at the downlink receiver site, which allows authorized personnel to log in to a secure network and view the IP video stream from a location with a wired or wireless connection.

“The Vislink system has greatly enhanced the police department’s capabilities in managing complex incidents by providing personnel, who are either directly or indirectly involved, with real-time airborne imagery and situational awareness.”
