Overview & Mission Challenge:
Border forces operate across vast, sparsely populated regions where activity can unfold quickly and out of sight. Illegal crossings, smuggling operations and environmental hazards often emerge with little warning. While aerial surveillance provides the reach required, its value depends entirely on whether intelligence can be transmitted, analysed and acted upon in real time.
Operational Challenge:
Static ground sensors and patrols leave gaps; terrain, distance and weather can all create blind zones. Fixed receivers may not cover the full operating area, and slow or fragmented data flow allows threats to move before units can respond. Without a robust airborne video downlink, command teams lack the immediacy needed for coordinated, high-confidence decision-making and efficient resource deployment.

Remote and vast landscapes provide a significant challenge for surveillance
Vislink Solution:
Vislink AVDS enables border agencies to transform airborne assets into real-time intelligence platforms by combining resilient RF downlink with flexible 5G/LEO options. Aircraft equipped with AeroLink can transmit secure, low-latency HD/UHD video using efficient HEVC encoding, delivering dependable line-of-sight and near-line-of-sight coverage across remote or complex terrain. Where missions require extended reach or beyond-line-of-sight capability, Aero5 adds bonded 5G and LEO satellite connectivity to maintain uninterrupted visibility.
On the ground, CIRAS-X6 provides high-gain, multi-channel RF reception for fixed installations, mobile command posts or temporary forward operating bases. The Quantum receiver enhances flexibility with multi-mode imagery support and seamless integration into wider command-and-control environments, ensuring airborne intelligence flows directly into operational workflows.
For distribution and coordination, LinkMatrix centralises management of all incoming airborne feeds, enabling secure routing and sharing across regional border stations, mobile units and national command centres. Field personnel can view the same live intelligence through Mobil Commander, which brings real-time video directly to handheld or vehicle-mounted displays. Together, these components create a cohesive, end-to-end airborne intelligence chain from aircraft to decision-maker.
Mission Impact / Outcome:
Border agencies gain earlier detection, broader situational awareness and better use of limited resources. With real-time, shareable airborne intelligence, units can cover more territory with fewer patrols, coordinate responses faster and maintain a stronger security posture across extended border environments. The result is a measurable force-multiplier effect: greater coverage, higher confidence, and improved mission outcomes.
